What is a frosting shot? It’s exactly what it sounds like. A shot glass filled with the same thick and creamy frosting used to ice cakes and cupcakes, minus the cake part.
Healthy Frosting Shots: Chock Full of Antioxidants, Healthy Fats (And Sugar Free!)
The good news is that we’ve given the traditional frosting shot a healthy makeover – and we promise it is still as sweet and creamy as your favorite bakery shot.
Here’s the difference: Our frosting shots are made with heart healthy coconut milk, grass fed butter, and our luxurious chocolate ganache – which is sugar free and full of rich chocolate flavor from sustainable, non-dutched, organic cocoa powder.
These simple ingredients will turn out frosting shots that have just one gram of sugar per serving, but still have that creamy texture and sweet flavor you love.
The best part is that these frosting shots aren’t just “not bad for you”, but that they actually pack a powerful nutritional punch!

We start with some simple ingredients: 2 packets Wellness Bakeries Chocolate Ganache, 1/2 cup canned coconut milk (we like Native Forest Original since it’s BPA free), a teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, and 8 ounces softened grass fed salted butter (such as Kerrygold or Organic Valley Pasture Butter)
First, add the coconut milk, vanilla, and ganache packets to a saucepan over medium low heat. Stir until the ganache is dissolved. Let cool slightly.
Next transfer the cooled mixture to a mixer bowl, and add the butter. Beat on high speed for about 2 minutes, until it’s fluffy.
If you can’t wait to taste it, grab a spoon and have at it. Otherwise, pipe into shot glasses, and serve with dessert spoons.
Oh, and get creative! Try adding a teaspoon of mint extract for Mint Chocolate Frosting Shots…a teaspoon of coconut extract for German Chocolate Frosting Shots… or an ounce of bourbon for slightly boozy “Happy Hour” Frosting Shots.
Almost Sugar-Free Chocolate Frosting Shots
Yield: 16 frosting shots (1 oz. each)
- Add the coconut milk, vanilla and ganache to a saucepan over medium-low heat.
- Stir to combine, and continue to stir until all granules have dissolved. Let cool slightly.
- Using a mixer, mix the butter and chocolate on high speed for 2 minutes until fully combined and fluffy.
- Pipe into shot glasses using a frosting piper.
